I was in Port Pelee this past weekend. Canada’s most southern tip…the take off and returning point of most of our birds. Awesome! And, always full of birders. As a matter of fact, I have decided to take up simple birdwatching myself. Read the rest of this entry »

It is very interesting to know that we are not alone and our work does pay off. Many movie stars are very environmentally conscious. Sandra Bullock for example got rid of her car to help save the environment plus works hard on home issues. Ed Begley Jr. Is the most conscientious person that I have heard about recently. His house is just a little place made with mostly recycled items. He rides his bicycle everywhere, even to the Jay Leno Show. He takes a train and takes his bike along and refuses to take any other form of transportation.
When he was asked how he became this way, Ed’s answer was that he learned it from his father, Ed Begley, another very famous star. Conclusion: We must teach our children to economize on our resources.

You are thinking that you are ammune to the recycling programs because you live in an apartment. Most apartments now have recycling bins outside and everyone should be using them and sorting their own trash efficiently.
This is good for everyone. Do you use a lot of electricity, or run the water a lot longer than necessary? Just because you are not exactly paying for these things, somebody is paying. With the energy costs rising, you will soon be seeing raises in rent and nobody wants that.
Start to make changes in your lifestyle to include a plan for energy savings and recycling. When cooking; cook once, cook big. When you have the oven on, make it count and cook for the freezer. If you make a point of cooking on Sunday, you can make your menus up for several days ahead, just think how good you will feel when you come home and the meal is ready, just to be heated up.
